Pembunuhan aneh sedang terjadi di Tokyo. Karena bukti cair di tempat kejadian, polisi menyimpulkan serangan tersebut adalah hasil dari hantu jenis ‘pemakan’. Teman kuliah Kaneki dan Hide muncul dengan gagasan bahwa hantu meniru manusia jadi itu sebabnya mereka belum pernah melihatnya.
